Research done between the period of January-March 2004.
GlamorousPersians (Formerly Persians R Us) has done a research online available to Breeders,Owners and Veterinarians.
The research was based on the physical experiece of clumping litter's use. Whether it should/shouldn't be considered safe.
Anyone was able to submit their information throughout a period of 2 months. 122 people have responded
The following are the results:
Clumping litter IS safe=71 people answered yes (58.2%)
Clumping litter is NOT safe=19 people answered no (15.6%)
NOT SURE=30 people (24.6%)
NO Answer given=2 people (1.6%)
Replies came from:
Breeders=93 (76.3%)
Owners=29 (23.7%)
Interesting enough out of 122 people, 24 (19.6%)
claimed that they didn't deem it safe for kittens and/or birthing queens.
17 (14%) answered that they either used the NATURAL CLUMPING exclusively and/or in combination with REGULAR.
10 (8.2%) have stopped its used (or never used) due to personal experience
3 (2.4%) was because they have heard of its danger
4 (3.2%) stopped using for other reasons
8 (6.5%) claimed kittens suffered Medical Problems
2 (1.6%) claimed Queen delivered in litterbox. 1 of them claimed it resulted in death.
